Our main company goal is to produce an excellent product that will operate efficiently and effectively in your firearm.
The Black Butterfly Ammunition Company was created to meet the needs of the discerning specialty shooters who prefer quality over cheaper than dirt, mass produced, factory ammunition.
Each round produced by The Black Butterfly Ammunition Company is hand manufactured and individually inspected by a loading expert to insure that we produce the finest quality ammunition available. This includes visual inspections and appropriate case gauge testing of each round produced. In addition, we randomly sample and shoot our production loads at our onsite range, this way we can ensure it will meet our stringent requirements and will function properly in your firearm.
Our loading and manufacturing expertise comes from years of hands on manufacturing and production experience with industry leaders like Colt Manufacturing Company, Kahr Arms and aerospace and defense giant, Esign-Bickford.
The Black Butterfly Ammunition Company warrants the original consumer purchase for 1 year from the date of purchase. At our discretion, we will replace or refund the original purchase price provided a proper proof of purchase is submitted. Our warranty will be free of charge except for any shipping charges that might be incurred by the customer to return their product to our facility. Of course, this warranty does not cover product abuse such as neglect, reloading, and or any other issues caused by improper handling.
Black Butterfly Ammunition, Premium D-Series, .458 SOCOM, 500 gr, 5 Rounds, D500 HAWK JHP (1000 FPS)
This round is intended for all subsonic applications, self defense and Hog Hunting. This round is an exclusive Black Butterfly Ammunition product developed in conjunction with Hawk Bullets. This bullet was made to function at subsonic speeds in an AR15 style rifle and feed from a standard 5.56 Mag. This can also be used in a bolt action. This projectile has a soften tip to start expansion but really shines when it makes contact with someone hard like a hog shoulder.
Unlike most projectiles used in the .458 SOCOM, these projectiles are made specifically for the .458 SOCOM and subsonic hunting applications. This means that copper jacket is softened to allow for easier tip expansion and the lead used is almost pure, without metal alloys added to make it harder. This is purposely done to allow for increased expansion on contact with large animals at close range.
When you get your ammo, you may notice the tips are not uniform. Don’t panic, it is totally normal for the tip of this projectile to have some sort of distortion and or deformed hollow point from batch to batch. The reason for this is that they are made with extremely pure lead which is very soft. Even dropping them on the ground or lightly tapping them will deform the tip. The process of pressing in the hollow point, seating the bullets, sorting, packaging and shipping them sometimes distorts the soft lead tips.
This has absolutely ZERO effect whatsoever on the operation of the round, accuracy or ballistic coefficient.
This round is not designed to be pretty. It’s designed to drop the energy of 500 grains of lead into an animal’s head or shoulder at approximately 1000 FPS.
